Today, we’ll be covering the "Switzerland of South America" as a potential base…
A country that and has been a destination for expatriates from both its neighboring countries and abroad
Uruguay 🇺🇾
Located in the southern cone of South America, Uruguay is a country with only 3.5 million inhabitants — 87% of which are of European descent.
As such, they are dwarfed by their big neighbors Brazil and Argentina, the larger economies of the MERCOSUR block.
While the country has Spanish as its official language, there is a slight influence of Brazilian Portuguese, such as the tone and certain words in the vocabulary. This should continue to increase as Brazilians continue to move in droves.
