7 Regions/Areas in LatAm Worth Exploring in 2026
The Southern Cone, Mountain Cities in Colombia, and More...
With 2026 well under way, methinks itβs time for a quick rundown of regions, countries, and cities in LatAm that intrigue me this year.
I am but a humble retard, so by no means is the list exhaustive. Just areas that have piqued my curiosity as of late.
Without further ado and all that jazzβ¦
1. Southern Cone ποΈ
Weβre talking Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, and southern Brazil here.
One of the most unique regions in all of Latin America. Featuring European influence/culture, potentially the best city in all of LatAm (Buenos Aires), Patagonia for nature lovers, and so much more.
Iβm bullish on the region for a number of reasons, but especially for two distinct groups: expat families and individuals looking to optimize their tax burden (Europeans, Canadians, Australians, etc).
Some of the top cities in the region include:
Punta del Este, Uruguay πΊπΎ
Asuncion, Paraguay π΅πΎ
Santiago, Chile π¨π±
And of course, Patagonia on both the Argentine and Chilean side is world-class.
2. Mid-Sized Mountain Cities in Colombia π¨π΄
Potentially the most criminally underrated place in all of Latin America.
No cap. All hype. Just an incredible region.
Small to mid-sized mountain cities in Colombia are the best. Near perfect βeternal springβ weather year-around, stunning mountain views + beautiful nature, incredibly low cost of living, friendly locals, and attractive women.
What is not to love?!
Ibague π¨π΄
Manizales π¨π΄
Pereira π¨π΄
Personally, if I wanted to live on $1,000 USD a month as a single dude in Latin America, these cities would be some of my top choices.
Ibague is where I would start.
3. Venezuela π»πͺ
Everybody and they mama was talking about Venezuela at the start of the year. Trump swooping in and scooping Maduro in the middle of the night caused quite a storm internationally.
Every red-blooded male from Toronto to Timbuktu was mentally masturbating about the idea of flying down, buying a $20,000 USD apartment on the beach, and making sweet amor to a Venezuelana or three.
The reality?
Things are still pending.
Venezuela is making progress, things are moving in the right direction. However, not all has changed as of yet.
Itβs probably not the perfect time to visit Venezuela as of yet, and itβs not time to investβ¦currently.
That should change here soon.
Places that pique my curiosity in the country include:
Ciudad Guyana π»πͺ
