7 Regions/Areas in LatAm Worth Exploring in 2026
The Southern Cone, Mountain Cities in Colombia, and More...
With 2026 well under way, methinks it’s time for a quick rundown of regions, countries, and cities in LatAm that intrigue me this year.
I am but a humble retard, so by no means is the list exhaustive. Just areas that have piqued my curiosity as of late.
Without further ado and all that jazz…
1. Southern Cone 🏔️
We’re talking Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, and southern Brazil here.
One of the most unique regions in all of Latin America. Featuring European influence/culture, potentially the best city in all of LatAm (Buenos Aires), Patagonia for nature lovers, and so much more.
I’m bullish on the region for a number of reasons, but especially for two distinct groups: expat families and individuals looking to optimize their tax burden (Europeans, Canadians, Australians, etc).
Some of the top cities in the region include:
Punta del Este, Uruguay 🇺🇾
Asuncion, Paraguay 🇵🇾
Santiago, Chile 🇨🇱
And of course, Patagonia on both the Argentine and Chilean side is world-class.
2. Mid-Sized Mountain Cities in Colombia 🇨🇴
Potentially the most criminally underrated place in all of Latin America.
No cap. All hype. Just an incredible region.
Small to mid-sized mountain cities in Colombia are the best. Near perfect “eternal spring” weather year-around, stunning mountain views + beautiful nature, incredibly low cost of living, friendly locals, and attractive women.
What is not to love?!
Ibague 🇨🇴
Manizales 🇨🇴
Pereira 🇨🇴
Personally, if I wanted to live on $1,000 USD a month as a single dude in Latin America, these cities would be some of my top choices.
Ibague is where I would start.
3. Venezuela 🇻🇪
Everybody and they mama was talking about Venezuela at the start of the year. Trump swooping in and scooping Maduro in the middle of the night caused quite a storm internationally.
Every red-blooded male from Toronto to Timbuktu was mentally masturbating about the idea of flying down, buying a $20,000 USD apartment on the beach, and making sweet amor to a Venezuelana or three.
The reality?
Things are still pending.
Venezuela is making progress, things are moving in the right direction. However, not all has changed as of yet.
It’s probably not the perfect time to visit Venezuela as of yet, and it’s not time to invest…currently.
That should change here soon.
Places that pique my curiosity in the country include:
Ciudad Guyana 🇻🇪

4. Northern / Northeastern Brazil 🇧🇷
Northern and northeastern Brazil will probably remain off-the-beaten-path destinations for eternity.
If we’re being honest here…
Why?
The cost of doing business is high.
You need to speak a bit of Portuguese. Flights tend to be more difficult, with not many directs from the western world. The crime and poverty can be high. Things just won’t function here like you’d expect them to…this is not a highly functional place.
On the flip-side, this offers many benefits.
You won’t find many other foreigners here. The nature is otherworldly, including some of the best beaches in South America and Amazon River adventures. There’s a true sense of adventure here. Oh, and yeah, the women shall be attractive.
Few spots worth checking out, but there are so many more:
Joao Pessoa 🇧🇷
Maceio 🇧🇷
Fortaleza 🇧🇷
Manaus 🇧🇷
Belem 🇧🇷
Lençóis Maranhenses National Park is well worth a visit too.
5. Pacific Coast Mexico 🇲🇽
While potentially the most explored region on this list by fellow gringos, the Pacific coast of Mexico offers some true gems.
In my personal opinion, Mazatlan has the potential to be the best beach city in Latin America — not located in Brazil.
Then you have world-famous places like Acapulco, that have fallen from their former glory, but still offer much to the single broski.
Manzanillo, Mexico is a raging shithole, but has some truly perfect beaches. Great for a visit from Guadalajara.
You’ll also find highly functional places in this region, like Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta.
The list could go on and on, as cities like La Paz and Puerto Escondido are fantastic as well.
6. El Salvador 🇸🇻
At this point, there’s simply no denying the incredible transformation of El Salvador — led by President Nayib Bukele.
The place went from one of the most dangerous in the whole entire world to one of the safest.
Truly remarkable on every level.
After being robbed by a gang here in 2014, I’m curious to see the transformation for myself. To see if El Salvador is living up to the hype you see online.
Now, this is a tiny country. San Salvador is the only real city. Then you’ve got some small mountain towns and beach spots. It’s a surfers paradise from what I’ve been told.
But that’s about it.
I believe it’s worth exploring in 2026, the incredible changes must be seen in person. From most dangerous place in the world to family friendly travel destination in a decades’ time!
7. Honduras
Ok, here me out…
This one is only for the single broski with a strong degenerate streak, conversational Spanish speaking abilities, and a decent bankroll.
Honduras is dangerous. Well, the mainland at least. Mainland Honduras is where the term “raging shithole” originated from.
That being said, Honduras has two cities with metro areas over 1+ million people — the only country in Central America with more than one major metro:
San Pedro Sula 🇭🇳
Tegucigalpa 🇭🇳
Both of these cities have near zero gringos in them.
There’s a lot of adventure to be had here. Dating, mating, and otra cosas should be prime here. You’ll feel alive due to the insecurity and chance of getting shanked around every turn.
Stay at the Intercontinental Hotel in either city. Prime location. Should be safe enough.
Once the insecurity gets to you, fly out to the Bay Islands and spend some time on Roatan — which is very safe and stunningly beautiful.
Where are you curious about?
